Improving the quality of life of our on-site residents is CIS’ ambition in all four corners of the world. From large-scale mining projects in the Mauritanian desert to mineral farms in the Katanga jungle and the Mongolian steppe, CIS is committed to delivering high-quality services to its clients in a safe, cost-effective manner, with the greatest respect for the environment and the local communities.

Your teams’ safety is our main concern

CIS is determined to raise awareness of and improve occupational safety. We take a zero-tolerance approach on all our operational sites and comply with the strictest international standards in force. Each new employee at CIS receives training on the occupational safety rules that must be respected and is made aware of the risks associated with their functions.

Cutting costs to increase our competitiveness

In order to help our mining clients increase their productivity, CIS delivers high-quality services at the best price. Thanks to our Supply Management System, we are able to manage food stocks in real time and generate adapted recipes and menus to help reduce costs. In addition, our Accommodation Management System enables us to keep track of arrivals and departures in real time, helping us to optimise our occupancy rate. Connections with transport and travel schedules are also set up to centralise all of the information necessary for optimised cost management.

The well-being of our residents is what drives our performance

The most committed teams are those that are the most satisfied with their work environment.

CIS pays particular attention to the well-being of its residents and tries to make sure they feel at home during their free time, by providing facilities such as a swimming pool, library and gym. We have also developed digital recreational and well-being solutions:

A connected bracelet that helps keep an eye on your health & a digital solution featuring access to online video games, virtual tournaments and personalised online training modules.

Respecting the environment by implementing sustainable practices across the value chain

We recognise the importance of our mining clients' responsibilities with respect to managing the environmental impact of their operations. In order to be consistent with their everyday actions, we constantly implement actions to reduce the impact of our operations on the ecosystems around us.

For example, in Niger CIS has installed a drip irrigation system for its vegetable project to limit water consumption; in Mongolia, we have created an “organic” used water treatment station which uses natural filters, such as bamboo and sand; and in Mauritania, we have introduced compositing: waste is destroyed and reused to fertilise the soil.

CIS has also introduced paperless solutions, particularly for QHSE controls (including temperature and health controls), via its Tracking System. By using electronic tablets to record data, we can ensure high-quality monitoring and facilitate reporting.

Development of local communities

CIS implements CSR policies to promote the socio-economic development of the local communities.

Today, 99% of our employees and 96% of our purchases are from the local area. We organise various actions in the areas of farming, local business development, support for suppliers, training and the employment of the local communities, all with the aim of sharing our know-how with these communities and helping the local economy grow.

In Mozambique, CIS has implemented an initiative that supports 250 local farmers, by helping them learn sustainable farming techniques that they can then use to diversify their production and increase their crop yield.

In Niger, CIS has implemented a project to provide support to a group of vegetable producers in Arlit, a town in the north of the country. This initiative has a direct economic impact as it provides employment for 50 women and also has an indirect impact on 1,000 people in the region.
