CSS Team with Fruit Tree Seedlings – DRC
Congo Support Services (CSS) has launched a reforestation program in the Lualaba and Haut-Katanga regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), with the goal of planting 50,000 fruit trees over five years. This initiative aims to actively involve local communities and schools in a sustainable approach.
In addition to tree planting, the project provides training on nursery management, enabling local populations to enhance their skills and take ownership of this ecological and economic mission.
Active collaborator participation and strong partnerships
CSS employees play a key role in this project by committing to provide at least two fruit tree seedlings each quarter, contributing to the planting of 4,000 trees annually. At the end of the five-year program, 12,000 trees will have been planted thanks to their efforts.
This program also benefits from the support of partners such as Tenke Fungurume Mining (TFM), which identifies local Congolese communities to be sensitized and involved each month.
Furthermore, CSS has been approached by the Association Dynamique Justice et Protection du Kongo, led by Maître Geslain Makungu, to collaborate in this joint effort against pollution and climate change.
Alain Kakese Mwetum, CSR Manager in Congo, emphasized the project’s multiple objectives:
“This reforestation initiative primarily aims to raise awareness about ecology, prevent soil erosion, sequester carbon, and combat climate change.”

A commitment to the planet: “All together, Everywhere we care!”
The project was made possible with the support of our client Tenke Fungurume Mining (TFM), whose community development department plays a central role in ensuring the project’s success.
CSS sets an example with this reforestation program, combining tangible environmental actions with the involvement of local communities. Restoring nature through tree planting is not only an investment in the planet but also a way to strengthen social bonds and raise awareness of global ecological challenges.
A Project praised for Its environmental and social impact
Béatrice Vernuccio, CSR and Sustainable Development Manager at CIS Group, expressed her enthusiasm for this initiative:
“I would like to congratulate our CSS teams in the DRC for implementing this large-scale project, which has a positive impact not only on the environment but also on local communities.”
