Health and safety

Compliance with ISO standards is the core of our management methods, including for subsidiaries that have not yet undertaken certification, through operational excellence in management, quality and safety of products and food products, as well as working conditions and the working environment. All our collaborators are required to respect our various charters and processes.

In order to improve our performance, we are committed, through our ‘Quality and Commitment to Excellence’ policy, to a quality approach aimed at strengthening our market position, improving our organisational efficiency, ensuring the quality of our services, complying with standards and regulations, and satisfying the growing expectations of our customers in terms of quality, health, safety and the environment.

By 2023, the CIS France head office and 6 Group subsidiaries will be ISO 9001 certified: Algeria, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Mauritania, Mozambique and Chad.

In addition, ISO 14001, ISO 22000 and ISO 45001 provide a framework for our environmental management, our compliance with food safety requirements and our efforts in terms of health and safety in the workplace. All of the CIS Group entities' certifications in these areas by 2023 are listed in the following visual:

Providing responsible working conditions and environmen

Our priority is to guarantee our collaborators safe working conditions by systematically striving for ‘zero incidents’. Our Occupational Health and Safety Policy commits us to providing our collaborators with safe and healthy working conditions. At the same time, every collaborator has a duty to be an active participant in improving safety at work in order to prevent any accident or material damage; to identify, assess and manage risks in order to carry out their work in complete safety; to promote and disseminate this spirit by encouraging actions to raise awareness and improve safety; to apply strictly the procedures for responding to emergency situations; to stop any task or activity that could give rise to an unacceptable risk to the health and safety of people.

As a result, every work-related accident is systematically analysed, the causes are identified and improvements are made by making a site safer and developing training and information for teams, as well as preventive actions.

In 2023, 5 subsidiaries will be ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management) certified: Algeria, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Mauritania and Chad.

In 2024, CIS France has just been awarded ISO 27001 certification by Bureau Veritas, the world leader in certification. This certification demonstrates the Group’s commitment to implementing an effective IT security management system and its desire to constantly improve it.

Cybersecurity, which covers all the means used to ensure the security of IT systems and data, is a major challenge that we must address as the holder of operational, personal and strategic data. Our Information Systems Security Policy helps to ensure the continuity of CIS activities, prevent the leakage of sensitive information and reinforce the confidence of our employees in the use of the resources made available to them.

Outstanding subsidiaries

In 2023, 16 CIS Group subsidiaries had no lost-time accidents. CIS Chad celebrated 18 years without a lost-time accident at the Komé 5 site, with more than 14.6 million hours without a lost-time accident: a record performance.

No accident, even a minor one, occurred in 2023 in 8 Group subsidiaries: DRC, Côte d'Ivoire, Eritrea, Gabon, Mongolia, Mozambique, Niger and Chad.
