CIS development in Eurasia

After winning its first contract in Russia, CIS began to establish itself in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

In 1993, CIS found itself in Kazakhstan on behalf of Elf Aquitaine, then in the drilling phase in the Aktiubinsk (now Aktobe) region, where climatic conditions often made access difficult.

“When you left, you never knew when you’d be back. In winter, planes couldn’t take off because of the frost and snowstorms, and in spring they couldn’t land because of the huge puddles that formed during the thaw,” says Franck Briesach, CIS CFO.

30 years later, Eurasia has become one of the thousands of CIS activities. Today, the Group is present in 12 regions of Kazakhstan, with 20 operating sites and 200 employees working for the world’s leading operators.
