At a crucial time when environmental issues are more important than ever, the CIS Group is demonstrating its commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable future. From September 18 to October 8, we are joining the European Weeks for Sustainable Development and World Clean Up Day in raising awareness and mobilizing our teams around three key areas to reduce our carbon footprint:
- week #1 waste,
- week #2 digital,
- week #3: eco-responsibility.
Week 1: Waste – September 18 to 24

Waste awareness day
On Monday September 18, CIS Marseille organized an awareness-raising session on plastic waste and ocean protection, with a presentation by Pure Océan. It seems essential to make our teams aware of the need to reduce our waste, particularly that dumped into the ocean: 250 kilos of plastic are dumped into the sea every second.

Several CIS Group subsidiaries have also taken action to reduce waste, particularly at our operating sites. In Mongolia, the DRC and Malawi, for example, our teams took part in WCUD (World Clean Up Day) by organizing clean-ups at and around their customers’ sites.

As part of this waste awareness campaign, other actions will be developed and relayed to all our subsidiaries on the following themes:
The Impact of Cigarette Butts: we’ll be taking a close look at the impact of cigarette butts on our environment. This is an opportunity to raise our employees’ awareness of a problem that is often overlooked.
The Cost of Waste Treatment: we’ll be looking at the cost of waste treatment. Understanding the financial implications helps us better appreciate the importance of responsible waste management.
Plastic-free day: we’ll be taking a radical approach by organizing a plastic-free day. This means eliminating plastic cups and bottles from our premises.
New French regulation 2024: recovering bio-waste: We’ll close the week by looking to the future. We’ll be exploring the new 2024 French regulations concerning the recovery of biowaste for all. This is a crucial step towards a more sustainable future.

Sustainable Development Week #1 is an opportunity for CIS Group to take concrete steps in favor of the environment. Join us in our drive for a cleaner, more sustainable future. Sustainable Development Week #2, from September 25 to September 29, will focus on the Digital Age. In an increasingly digital era, it is imperative to also consider virtual space as a place to be preserved.
