CIS Group in Guinea: Operational Excellence, Quality of Life and Local Support

Published on 01/09/2026

The expectations of mining and energy companies, as well as international institutions, are evolving. Beyond ensuring operational continuity, they are seeking partners capable of providing high-quality services while contributing to the quality of life on site. In this context, recent developments at WELHY-CIS illustrate a concrete approach to our remote site management concept: combining operational excellence, local impact, and environmental commitment.

Founded in 2023, WELHY-CIS was created through a collaboration between the Guinean company Welhy and the CIS Group to manage Africa’s largest open-pit mine. Through its local presence and industry expertise, WELHY-CIS positions itself as a trusted partner for operations conducted in remote environments.

Reforestation in Forécariah: a CSR commitment rooted in action

As part of its CSR commitment, WELHY-CIS took part in a reforestation initiative in the Forécariah region of Guinea. This initiative reflects a clear intention: to take concrete action in support of restoring vegetation cover and preserving local ecosystems.

Through this effort, our teams actively participated in planting numerous trees in an area where environmental challenges are significant. Beyond the action itself, this project reflects a broader vision of our role as a company operating in Guinea. For WELHY-CIS, on-site performance is not limited to the quality of the services delivered. It also includes the ability to contribute positively to the territories in which we operate.

In an environment where expectations around social and environmental responsibility are increasingly strong, particularly in the mining and energy sectors, this type of initiative provides a tangible response. Reforestation contributes to the preservation of natural resources, raises team awareness and strengthens the local foundation of our CSR approach.

A new recreation room to enhance quality of life on site

Improving daily life on site is an integral part of effective of remote site management. With this in mind, WELHY-CIS inaugurated a new recreation room at one of its site. This new space was designed to offer residents a place to relax during their breaks, with facilities dedicated to leisure and social interaction.

The room includes billiard tables, foosball tables, ping-pong tables and a stage intended to host future events and activities. Its official opening was marked by a shared moment around games and a live concert, highlighted by the presence of our client’s Senior Manager Business Services on guitar.

In remote environments, the quality of shared spaces plays an important role in the on-site experience of employees. It contributes to daily well-being, encourages interaction between teams and enhances the overall attractiveness of the camp. By developing this type of infrastructure, WELHY-CIS confirms its ability to integrate the human dimension into its remote site management solutions in Guinea.

Central kitchen: a step forward for catering operations

WELHY-CIS also reached an important milestone with the launch and official opening of a new central kitchen. This new facility was designed to strengthen the quality, consistency and efficiency of catering operations across the different sites served.

More modern and better sized, the central kitchen will progressively centralize meal production for all restaurants and satellite sites. August 16 marked the launch of the first service as well as the beginning of the gradual transfer of culinary operations from the former camp to this new central kitchen. This operational development provides a reliable catering setup capable of maintaining a consistent level of service quality.

In the energy, mining and major infrastructure sectors, collective catering is a strategic service. It must combine volume control, QHSE requirements, production continuity and guest satisfaction. With this new central kitchen, WELHY-CIS is strengthening its capacity to meet these requirements while improving the overall organization of its catering operations in Guinea.

This inauguration was also an opportunity to pay tribute to one of our chefs, who has sadly passed away, and whose commitment, professionalism and passion left a lasting mark on the teams. It also highlighted the strong mobilization of the project, maintenance, QHSE and catering teams, all of whom contributed to the success of this achievement.

N’zérékoré: logistics innovation and local agricultural development

Another significant development is that WELHY-CIS welcomed a delegation to its logistics base in N’zérékoré, bringing together its own teams and those of its client. This visit provided an opportunity to present the newly installed bagging line and to begin discussions around future local agricultural development projects.

Today, this line makes it possible to vacuum-pack various local products such as okra, peppers and radishes, sourced from local farmers and from the Mafindou training farm. Its value is both operational and economic. On one hand, it improves product preservation in order to secure camp supply at the right time. On the other hand, it helps structure, centralize and enhance local production.

This type of equipment represents a lever for both performance and local anchoring. It enables greater integration of local supply chains while meeting requirements for quality, traceability and logistics continuity. In Guinea, where local development is a strategic issue for many projects, this initiative illustrates how WELHY-CIS combines innovation with practical field value.

WELHY-CIS confirms a clear vision of its role: delivering reliable services in remote sites, improving living conditions on camp and contributing to sustainable local dynamics. These achievements reflect its concrete commitment to operational performance, territorial impact and environmental responsibility.
