In Chad, concrete initiatives supporting local communities
Published on 22/10/2026
In remote operating environments, site performance is not measured solely by the quality of the services delivered. It is also built through long-term relationships with local territories and communities. Wherever CIS Group operates, including in Chad, this is a key priority. CIS Group and its subsidiaries align with the priorities set out in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in the areas of health, education, access to water and reducing inequalities. Acting responsibly around operating sites helps address concrete local needs. In Chad, this commitment is reflected in initiatives supporting health, food security, access to water and assistance for vulnerable populations.
Supporting safer food production with an improved kitchen facility
Among the recent initiatives carried out in Chad, the support provided to a local kissar producer illustrates an approach that combines social, health and environmental impact. Kissar, a traditional pancake widely consumed across the country, is a popular food product enjoyed by many people. To improve the preparation conditions for this specialty, an improved kitchen facility was built near an operating site. The initiative was complemented by training in good hygiene practices, as well as the provision of a mill capable of processing 10 kg per cycle. The objective is clear: improve product quality, secure the production process and sustainably support a local activity.
Beyond the food-related aspect, this initiative also includes an environmental dimension. The kitchen is equipped with an improved cookstove that reduces charcoal consumption. Solar floodlights were also installed for lighting, thereby limiting the use of more carbon-intensive solutions. This type of initiative shows that a community project can simultaneously address health, local productivity and environmental transition challenges.
Improving access to water to support better learning conditions
Access to safe drinking water remains a major driver of development for local communities. According to UNICEF, access to safe water is directly linked to children’s health, school attendance and improved living conditions. In this context, the installation of a hand-operated borehole at a school in Bémangara represents a meaningful and lasting contribution.
Officially handed over in October 2026, the project provides a practical response to an essential need. For students, having a water point close to the school helps improve both daily living conditions and learning conditions. The rationale is simple: local infrastructure has a direct impact on everyday life in surrounding communities. When designed on the basis of clearly identified needs, such projects become tangible markers of responsible engagement.
Strengthening support for vulnerable children in N’djamena
CIS Chad’s commitment also extends to initiatives supporting the most vulnerable groups. In a context where food needs remain a pressing concern for many families, a food donation was made in N’Djamena to a foundation supporting vulnerable children. This initiative benefited 400 children, including 150 hosted within the foundation and 250 supported within their families.
The donated items included essential food products such as milk, rice, flour, pasta and vegetable oil. Beyond the donation itself, this initiative reflects a commitment to supporting useful social actions that respond directly to local needs. In complex operating environments, local solidarity remains a concrete driver of impact.
What we do for local communities throughout the year
In Chad, our action goes beyond one-off initiatives. Throughout the year, we work alongside the communities living around our operating sites. Creating job opportunities, developing local skills and promoting procurement within the country are integral to the way we do business. These commitments help strengthen the local roots of our activities and generate sustainable positive outcomes.
Alongside this foundation, we also carry out philanthropic initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. These actions support health, children’s education, social centres and orphanages, among others. This approach helps connect economic activity, corporate social responsibility and local impact in a coherent and meaningful way.

In Chad, the actions carried out in support of local communities reflect a clear commitment: to support local areas in a practical way, as close as possible to essential needs. Supporting safer food production, improving access to water in schools, providing food aid to vulnerable children, and promoting local employment and in-country procurement all illustrate a corporate social responsibility approach grounded in reality.
For CIS Group, local commitment is inseparable from its core business. In remote environments, delivering quality services requires understanding local realities, working closely with stakeholders and contributing to the development of surrounding territories.
